The main goal of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) is to become an excellent, worldwide referenced research institution and produce innovative technology.

IIT focuses on research and development of methods, techniques and prototype systems in the areas of Communication Systems/Networks and Informatics. It aims at playing a pivoting role in both basic and applied research and its transfer and exploitation in applied domains of production for the Greek and international industry, by providing advanced services, establishing new technological companies and disseminating its technology as widely as possible. In parallel it participates in the creation of new research positions and provides postgraduate scholarships and post-doctoral fellowships.
