5 October - Researcher's Night 2018!

The National Centre for Scientific Research "Demokritos" (NCSR-D) will once again be hosting the European Researchers' Night on the 5th of October. The event presents science and researchers in different kinds of workshops, panel discussions and exhibitions. All events are free.

The Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications invites you to visit the NCSR-D campus, on the evening of 05/10, discover several aspects of computer science, meet researchers, and enjoy yourself!

The TRESSPASS project has kicked off

TRESSPASS, a H2020 42 month Innovation Action project which started on June 1, 2018, coordinated by the Integrated Systems Laboratory, IIT, NCSRD, imports the idea of “Risk based” security checks and proposes an analytic framework for modelling risk as well as a systematic approach of quantifying risk, based on a set of indicators that can accurately be measured across all four tiers of the Integrated Border Management.

HF6: iASiS project successfully organised the Big Data for Precision Medicine Symposium

HF6: DARE project successfully organised a workshop on the role of research e-infrastructures in the National Research Agenda

Οn July 10, 2018 the H2020 DARE project organised the workshop "The role of Research e-infrastructures in the National Research Agenda" in the frame of the 6th Hellenic Forum, at the NCSR Demokritos campus in Athens, Greece. Over 80 delegates participated in the workshop, amongst which the Secretary General for Research & Technology, Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs Dr. P. Kyprianidou and discussed the role of eInfrastructures whilst presenting current issues and directions in strengthening the role of national research e-infrastructures.

Educational workshops SMARTcamp 2018: A five-year cycle has been completed

Two weeks of knowledge and experiments took place during the SMARTcamp summer workshops, bringing the students closer to Digital arts & Animation and Robotics thematic areas. This year the Integrated Systems Laboratory of NCSR “Demokritos” has achieved a significant milestone of completing a five-year cycle of successful organization of these workshops. The willingness and the dedication of the students overall, was remarkable which was depicted on the exceptional work that the students delivered in all courses.

iASiS participated in the Technology & Health Workshop in Athens

Dr. George Paliouras presented the European H2020 project iASiS (coordinated by SKEL Lab, II&T, NCSR Demokritos) during the Technology & Health workshop organised by the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies which took place on 12 June 2018 in Athens, Greece.

HF6 Workshop: The role of Research e-infrastructures in the National Research Agenda

NCSR "Demokritos" organizes a workshop titled "The role of Research e-infrastructures in the National Research Agenda ", which is part of the 6th Hellenic Forum for Science Technology and Innovation (http://events.demokritos.gr/) and the Demokritos Summer School 2018. The workshop will take place at the Central Amphitheater of NCSR "Demokritos", on Tuesday 10 July 2018 between 14:00 – 18:00.

iASiS presented at Big Data Athens Meetup

On May 16, 2018 Dr. Krithara, Post-Doctoral Researcher, SKEL Lab, II&T presented the iASiS project at the Big Data Athens meetup, discussing with data science industry leaders and experts how Big Data can support Precision Medicine and Public Health Policy.
