SKEL Lab participated at the Symposium: Open Science in Greek Research

SKEL Lab participated at the Symposium "Open Science in Greek Research: Research Procedures, Research Data, Collaborations" which was held on 29-30 November 2018 in Athens. Dr. Vangelis Karkaletsis, SKEL Lab, Institute of Information Technology & Telecommunications presented the common requirements of Research infrastructures.

In addition, V. Kylikoglou and K. Eleftheriadis from the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of NCSR "Demokritos" presented the INNOVATION-el and PANACEA projects respectively.

Organization and hosting of the Kick-off Meeting for the new CODESKILLS4ROBOTICS project

On 26 and 27 November 2018 at the Aigaion Meeting Room, the kick-off meeting for the Erasmus+ project CODESKILLS4ROBOTICS: Promoting Coding & STEM Skills through Robotics: Supporting Primary Schools to Develop Inclusive Digital Strategies for All took place. N.C.S.R. "Demokritos" is the Coordinator of the project.

Representatives of all six (6) partners participated in this very fruitful meeting from Greece, Cyprus, Belgium and Sweden and in particular from:

SKEL Lab participated at the Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship workshop

Dr. Vangelis Karkaletsis, SKEl Lab, gave a speech at the two-day long workshop "Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A new agenda for the enhancement of structural competitiveness".
The event took place at the Goethe-Institut in Athens on 26-27 November 2018.

VR at GR - Integrated Systems Lab at Onassis Cultural Centre

“VR@GR Virtual Reality - Research and applications in Greece today”, an event dedicated to Virtual Reality took place on the 24-25 of November at Onassis Cultural Centre (Stegi), in collaboration with the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The Integrated Systems Lab participated in the meeting, thus contributing in an on-going effort to promote interactive technologies in Greece, in a time when the perspectives and possible applications of VR technology attract the interest of many people.

SKEL LAB participated in EBDVF2018

Dr Vangelis Karkaletsis and Dr Stasinos Konstantopoulos participated in the European Big Data Value Forum 2018, which took place in Vienna during 12-14 November 2018.

SKEL LAB participated in the SPLASH 2018 Conference

SKEL LAB participated in the ACM SIGPLAN conference on Systems, Programming, Languages and Applications: Software for Humanity (SPLASH 2018) which took place in Boston from Sunday 4th to Friday 9th of November 2018.

SKEL LAB participated in the 2018 EMNLP Conference

Dr Anastasia Krithara and Mr Anastasios Nentidis participated in the 2018 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing, which took place in Brussels, Belgium during 31 October– 4 November 2018.

SKEL Lab travelled to Canada for the second time with iASiS

-- Dr. G.Paliouras travelled to Canada in September 2018, as an invited speaker for the second time in the frame of iASiS project. His first stop was in Toronto at the Fields Institute on September 25th where he gave a talk about "Data integration and analysis for personalized medicine" whilst focusing on iASiS project progress.

SKEL LAB participated in the Horizon 2020 – EU Partnering event on digital transformation in health & care

Dr Anastasia Krithara presented the BigMedilytics project in the Horizon 2020 - EU Partnering event on digital transformation in health & care, which took place in Brussels, Belgium, on 30 October 2018.

Net Media Lab participated in the 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the CLICHA Project in Tunisia

Net Media Lab participated in the 2nd Meeting of the CLICHA (Climate Change in Agriculture) project, which took place on two consecutive days, the 24th of October at the Higher School of Engineers of Medjez El Bab and the 25th of October 2018 at the National Institute of Agriculture of Tunisia in Tunis.

The consortium had the opportunity to meet and get involved with important technical and managerial issues of the project.

Net Media Lab presented the e-learning platform that was developed in the framework of the project as well as the website of the project.
