ΟΜΙΛΙΑ: Machine learning opportunities for a new generation of microwave-based medical devices

Abstract

This talk will present our progress towards two medical devices which we are currently developing using electromagnetic (EM) waves at microwave frequencies. The first device is a non-invasive sensor for monitoring glucose changes for diabetes patients, and the second is a portable scanner for stroke detection and monitoring. Both devices require processing information from signals which depend strongly on the complex interaction of EM waves with the human body as well as environmental factors such as temperature and instrument noise.
