Through its research projects and international partnerships, IIT explores advancements in foundational technologies for efficient and scalable Big Data management, ranging from database federation and distributed indexing to data integration and homogenisation.

Additionally, the Institute is actively contributing to the advancement of European large-scale e-infrastructures by developing novel methodologies for execution optimisation, distributed processing and infrastructure abstraction in the context of various eScience and Open Science initiatives.
