  • CULDILE - CULtural DImensions of deep LEarning

    This project will develop an integrated expert system for capturing documents, enhancing images and understanding cultural documents. The capturing of an image as it is produced by a low cost scanner as well as pre-processing it, is the first stage of document processing aimed at improving scanned image quality and creating an excellent digital copy.

  • tranScriptorium - tranScriptorium

    tranScriptorium is a STREP of the Seventh Framework Programme in the ICT for Learning and Access to Cultural Resources challenge. tranScriptorium is planned to last from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2015.

    tranScriptorium aims to develop innovative, efficient and cost-effective solutions for the indexing, search and full transcription of historical handwritten document images, using modern, holistic Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) technology.

    tranScriptorium will turn HTR into a mature technology by addressing the following objectives:

  • SentIMAGi - Brand monitoring and reputation management via multi-modal sentiment analysis

    Recent brand monitoring technologies rely mostly on the textual aspect of content to derive the under-lying public sentiment with respect to a brand, essentially ignoring the wealth of - constantly increasing - visual content. SentIMAGi will create a powerful brand monitoring and reputation management framework, exploiting multi-modal sentiment analysis methods and summariza-tion. The aim of the framework is to provide an efficient but complete view of the public senti-ment towards different aspects of a brand.

  • SYNAISTHISI - Intelligent Networks for Data Collection and Processing for Energy Conservation

    The purpose of the "SYNAISTHISI" project is to research and build a system that can seamlessly integrate heterogeneous sensor, processing and actuator networks and provide a flexible yet extendable service layer that can translate such networks (devices, sensors, machines, humans, etc.) into reusable service components that are easily “weaved” into applications. For the scope of this project several application scenarios have been identified.

  • ORTHO-eMAN - A web-based e-training platform for Extended Human Motion Investigation in Orthopedics

    The project seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine, by creating a new e-learning environment for human motion analysis. For this reason, the project aims to offer to orthopedic doctors and engineers interested in medical field, a common learning tool, with interdisciplinary approaches using learning methodologies and experience from previous EU project, e-MedI – Virtual Medical School.

  • SYNC3 - Synergetic Content Creation and Communication

    SYNC3 will provide an intelligent framework for making more accessible the vast quantity of user comments on news issues. The project will structure the part of blogsphere that refers to running news stories, rendering it accessible, manageable and re-usable. The immediate target of SYNC3 is the news industry and social networks, but domains like commerce, tourism, e-science and business intelligence are likely to benefit from the resulting technology.

  • IMPACT - Improving Access to Text

    The IMPACT project brings together fifteen national and regional libraries, research institutions and commercial suppliers - all centres of competence with unequalled experience of large-scale text digitisation processes and technologies. The project will let them share their know-how and best practices, develop innovative tools to enhance the capabilities of OCR engines and the accessibility of digitised text and lay down the foundations for the mass-digitisation programmes that will take place over the next decade.
