PETRA 2019 Conference takes place 5-7 June in Rhodes, GR

The 12th ACM International Conference on PErvasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments (PETRA 2019) takes place from 5 to 7 June in Rhodes, Greece.

HF7: DARE, DEEP and XDC co-organise workshop: Creating platform-driven eInfrastructure innovation on EOSC

In the frame of the 7th Hellenic Forum 2019, the DARE project leads the organisation of a project clustering event on Wednesday 10 July 2019 at NCSR Demokritos premises in Athens, Greece.

H2020 EINFRA-21 projects DARE, DEEP and XDC jointly organise the workshop titled Creating platform-driven eInfrastructure innovation on EOSC where other related EC-funded projects and initiatives will be represented. Of central importance is also the representation of EOSChub partners, EC officials and other stakeholders.

Kick-off Meeting for INFORE project in Athens

On the 16th of January, SKEL Lab participated in the Kick-off Meeting of the EU-funded INFORE project that took place at the Royal Olympic Hotel in Athens. INFORE project kicked off during a 3-day set of meetings between involved partners ATHENA – Research and Innovation Center (coordinator), NCSR Demokritos, RapidMiner, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, The Centre for Genomic Regulation, Spring Techno, NATO Centre of Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) and MarineTraffic.

AthNLP 2019 Summer School: Call Open until 31 May | SKEL lab is co-organiser

The 1st Athens Natural Language Processing Summer School (AthNLP 2019) will take place from 18 - 25 September 2019 at NCSR Demokritos campus in Athens, Greece.

The summer school is jointly organised by NCSR Demokritos, Athens University of Economics and Business, RC Athena and Heriot-Watt University.
AthNLP cooperates closely with the organizers of LxMLS, building upon their success.

WiCom laboratory partners with ANTRUM to develop VHF antenna

The WiCom laboratory is currently in partnership with ANTRUM Ltd (www.antrum.co.uk), a spinoff company of Loughborough University, UK, for research and development of a VHF antenna for applications in M2M satellite communications under a programme facilitated by ESA. The first phase of the project has been successfully completed.

The Wireless Communications Laboratory (WiCom) of IIT, in collaboration with Loughborough University, organizes for second time the European School of Antennas 2019 (titled: "Advanced Materials for Antennas and Microwave Devices") and welcomes everyone who might be interested to attend. This year the courses will be held at the premises of Loughborough University, UK.

NeL Lab brings the ATLAS project to successful completion

The end of March marked the successful completion of the ATLAS project, implemented by the Telecommunication Networks Laboratory (NeL).

AI4EU:SKEL Lab brings in new Artificial Intelligence project | Interviewing Thales' Research Director P.Gatellier

SKEL Lab is a partner in the European Commission's "AI4EU: A European AI on Demand Platform and Ecosystem" project, that was officially launched on January 10, 2019. AI4EU aims to help the European Community become a global leader in both highly advanced and human-centred AI, promising cutting-edge breakthroughs in this pivotal technological arena.

The BioASQ Challenge visited Japan. G.Paliouras spoke at BLAH5 Hackathon. Video now available.

In the frame of the BioASQ Challenge (http://bioasq.org/) George Paliouras gave a keynote speech on Tuesday 12 February at the Biomedical Linked Annotation Hackathon in Kashiwa, Japan.

The BLAH5 Hackathon took place from 12 to 15 February 2019 as part of a series organized to promote collaboration for sharing and linking resources for biomedical literature annotation and mining.
