The ARTIFACT group works at the intersection of technology and culture through projects that involve the creation of cultural experiences with digital technologies or the advanced digitisation of cultural heritage. This synergy allows the development of new types of cultural activities that:
ARTIFACT has been particularly active in attracting funding over the last five years, through which it created infrastructures. As a result of the project Στέγη Ελληνικών Ιδεών – House of Classical Greek Ideas, ARTIFACT has developed, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, an innovative exhibition space, using digital technologies called Aylon Lyceum. This space hosts two prototype exhibitions on ancient Greek philosophy and can serve as an open lab for the use of digital technologies in Culture. As a result of the VAST project the VAST Platform was created that aimed to satisfy both the requirements of all target users, and the requirements of VAST pilots’ operation. All three pilots share the same structure and involve the same set of target users (Academics, Value communicators, General audience). The platform contains the annotation of artifacts, VAST’s semantic knowledge graph, toolkits and resources, video tutorials and so on.
