New projects for ISL in the Horizon2020 framework and the “Research - Create - Innovate” action

The Integrated Systems Laboratory (ISL) of the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of the NCSR “Demokritos”, after the recent publication of the results related to national and international funding programs, has been announced to receive funding for five new projects.

Regarding the Horizon2020 European framework two proposals that had been submitted by ISL as Coordinator were both successfully accepted for funding.

(1) Tresspass - robusT Risk basEd Screening and alert System for PASSengers and luggage, was the first in the list to receive funding in the topic SEC-15-BES-2017: Risk-based screening at border crossing, with a total budget of 9.299.391,25€. A strong European Consortium of 22 partners with significant presence of end users such as the Hellenic Police, KEMEA, the Piraeus Port Authority, The Hellenic Coast Guard, Schiphol Airport, Dutch and Polish Border Guard.

(2) CIVILnEXT “Next generation of information systems to support EU external policies” received funding in the topic SEC-13-BES-2017 with a total budget of 11,109,643.75€ and it is the second PCP project that ISL will coordinate. The Consortium consists of 14 partners among which KEMEA, as procurement coordinator, and end users such as United Nations International Organization of Migration, Hellenic Ministry of Defence, Guardia Civil and the Slovenian and Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project aims at contributing in the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) through the procurement and the development of innovative solutions that will support the mission operations of EU to third countries.

Additionally, ISL received funding by the Operational Programme Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation 2014-2020, for three projects related to the “Research – Create – Innovate” action. These proposals are covering solutions in the areas of “Tourism , Culture and Creative Infustries” and “Information and Communication Technology”.

The successful proposals are:
Cosmos”: Cultural Osmosis - Mythology and Art
Narration”: Integrated system for management and curation of digital content and production of personalized and collaborative narratives"
ESTIA”: Disaster Management Platform for Cultural Heritage Sites
TMI”: Tailor-made itinerary builder
