Dr. Athanasios Davvetas, researcher at the AI Politeia Lab, represented the FRISCO project at the ALLIES Project Final Conference which was held in Athens on 20 February 2025.
During his speech in Panel 3 titled Artificial Intelligence vs. Counter-Terrorism and Criminality he presented the crucial role of interdisciplinarity within the AI Politeia Lab, which enables a multifaceted approach to addressing general AI risks across domains. Furthermore, he showcased non-AI and AI tools developed within relevant EU projects (e.g., FRISCO and DeployAI) to support stakeholders in complying with EU regulations and highlighted additional initiatives in the context of AI research and AI ethics.
The event featured key contributions from Friederike Wegener (DG-HOME, Policy Officer), Koralia Kontou (DG-HOME, FRISCO & ALLIES Project Officer), and Denitsa Kozhuharova (ALLIES Project Coordinator, Law and Internet Foundation).
Additionally, during the TCO Cluster panel, Pierre Sivingnon (FRISCO) highlighted the importance of collaboration among sibling projects to enhance efforts against terrorist content online.
Through its participation, the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT) of NCSR Demokritos reinforces its commitment to responsible AI research and European security initiatives.
