The National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos and Vodafone Greece announced their strategic partnership through the creation of the Giga Campus, situated in Ayia Paraskevi.
The hub of innovation, which aims to support the acceleration of Greece’s digital transformation through Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G, aims to contribute to the strengthening of the country’s businesses for a more sustainable, digital tomorrow.
The partnership between the two organisations was officially launched on Tuesday 20 July at NCSR Demokritos premises in Ayia Paraskevi, hosted by Dr George Nounesis, Director and Chairman of the Board. The meeting was attended by Mr Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of State and Digital Governance, Mr Harry Broumidis, Chairman and CEO at Vodafone Greece, Dr Vangelis Karkaletsis, Director of IIT and Vice President of NCSR Demokritos, Mrs Maria Skagou, Vice Chair Board of Directors at Vodafone Greece and Dr Harilaos Koumaras, Associate Researcher of Media Networks Laboratory and 5G Researcher of IIT.
Dr Vangelis Karkaletsis, Director of the Institute of Informatics and Telecomunnications, stated among others: Giga Campus complements Demokritos’ Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) Ahedd, while now more solutions and support will be provided exploiting the capabilities of Vodafone’s 5G network. Together with Vodafone we will be able to do much more contributing to the digital transformation of Attica region and Greece.
