The FRONT research group of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications participated in the Open Community Experience 2026 (OCX), held in Brussels from 21 to 23 April 2026, contributing to key discussions on the future of European research, innovation, and next-generation technologies.

Dr. Harilaos Koumaras, Project Coordinator of both DeepTechSeeds and SAFE-6G, along with Mr Stefanos Plastras, Deputy Project Coordinator of DeepTechSeeds, represented the Institute. Their participation highlighted the Institute’s active role in advancing European initiatives in talent development and next-generation connectivity.

Within the framework of the DeepTechSeeds project, the team contributed to the session “A European Talent Ecosystem for Early Career Researchers”, focusing on strengthening support mechanisms for early-career researchers and fostering a more connected and resilient European Research Area (ERA). The session brought together key stakeholders to explore how talent ecosystems can evolve and support the next generation of researchers across Europe.

In parallel, through the SAFE-6G project, the team participated in OCX at the Eclipse booth, engaging with the open-source community and presenting the project’s approach to next-generation connectivity. The event provided a dynamic environment for exchange around cloud-native infrastructure, edge computing, IoT, and 6G technologies, while highlighting the role of open-source ecosystems—leveraging Eclipse aeriOS—in enabling secure and resilient communication systems.
