In the frame of this year’s prestigious IGARSS 2024 Conference (IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium) which was held in Athens, Greece between 7-12 July a workshop was organised titled AI-powered Data Engineering and Reusability for Earth Observation Applications.
The session was chaired by Dr. Iraklis Klampanos, NCSR Demokritos on 12 July 2024 and explored cutting-edge research in AI and data engineering for Earth observation applications addressed to researchers and users of the AI on Demand Platform. The session featured presentations on a variety of topics, including synthetic data generation, semantic data cubes, transfer learning, and scene classification. Researchers from around the world shared their latest findings and discussed challenges and opportunities in this rapidly evolving field of intelligent data engineering for EO.
The IGARSS conference is the leading meeting of its kind and this year it gathered more than 3.300 scientists and professionals in the Remote Sensing field from across the globe. Its rich programme included plenaries and parallel workshop sessions, posters sessions and tutorials along with technical visits and hackathons thus distinctively contributing to the exchange of views, sharing of experiences and the training of younger scientists, opening new perspectives for research development and investments in the sector.
