The Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) at NCSR Demokritos participated in the 11th ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Smart Structures and Materials in the context of the EU project NOUS, which took place at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria, from 1 to 3 July 2025.
Dr Christoforos Rekatsinas, senior researcher at the INSANE group, focused his presentation on how the interoperability of High-Performance Computing and Machine Learning can contribute to high-fidelity analysis of sustainable composite structures, as well as data generation for predictive maintenance using intelligent multifunctional materials as sensor elements.

The Conference on Smart Structures and Materials served as a dynamic platform for researchers and practitioners worldwide to share cutting-edge advancements in the areas of material characterisation, design, development, manufacturing, and application.

Bringing together leading experts and emerging scholars, the conference fostered the exchange of innovative ideas and research findings, highlighting the latest progress in the evolving field of smart structures and materials.
