Four major organisations—NCSR Demokritos, the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), the Athena Research Centre, and Heriot-Watt University in Scotland—joined forces once again to co-organize the Athens Natural Language Processing Summer School (AthNLP), which took place from September 19 to 25, 2024. More than 140 students, researchers, and top instructors from around the world gathered for a week at the NCSR Demokritos premises.
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a branch of Artificial Intelligence that develops algorithms and computational models enabling computers to understand and generate natural language text and/or speech, extract information from documents, answer questions, and more.
The Summer School featured lectures by distinguished NLP researchers from universities, research centers, and technology companies. The main lectures of the Summer School were recorded and made freely available on the Summer school’s website after the completion of the courses.
AthNLP 2024 was supported by numerous sponsors, including major companies such as the National Bank of Greece, Google, Accenture, Interamerican, Causaly, Endeavor, Archeiothiki, and Aegean Airlines.
Academic supporters include NCSR Demokritos, the “Archimedes” unit of the Athena Research Center, the Lifelong Learning and Training Center of AUEB with its Master’s Program in Data Science, and the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society.
