The Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications hosted the Final Event of the TREEADS Project on 27 May 2025, at the NCSR Demokritos permises in Athens, Greece.

The H2020 Green Deal project brought a holistic knowledge hub in forest ecosystem protection and a suite of pilot validated tools in the fight against wildfires, including modelling and simulation, AI powered multi-modal analytics, smart sensors, autonomous solutions and more.

Within an overall successful run, TREEADS was also a success story of collaboration between two institutes within NCSR Demokritos: Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications at NCSR Demokritos and the Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences & Technology. The collaboration with INRASTES colleague Thomas Maggos and between the respective research groups (ISL NCSRD, AirTech Lab) brought tangible results in the shape of the wearable integrated multi-sensor unit for first responders feeding an AI powered app for early alerting of hazardous air pollutant concentrations and safe evacuation support, among other results published or under publication.

The event was an opportunity for stakeholders, researchers, policy-makers, and the public to explore how TREEADS contributes to climate resilience and wildfire preparedness across Europe.
