IIT’s Computational Intelligence Laboratory (CIL) participated in the international EuroGEO Workshop 2022, held in Athens from 7 – 9 December 2022, where it presented the preliminary results of the project AI for Geoapplications (AI4GEO).

Dr. Eleni Harou (researcher), Dr. Marianthi Stefouli (geologist), Yannis Vernikos (PhD candidate), Giorgos Giannopoulos (undergraduate student), Ekaterini Christopoulou (PhD candidate), Dr Antigoni Panagiotopoulou and Dr Emmanuel Bratsolis, participated in the creation of the poster entitled “Machine Learning on Earth Observation Data for Geoapplications: preliminary results”.

During this workshop, researchers focused on preparing the next path of EuroGEO to align with the progress made and new needs tarisen in the European context, as well as to coordinate and enhance their contribution to the evolution of GEO beyond 2025.

EuroGEO combines the contributions of European members of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), a partnership of more than 100 national governments, over 100 participating organisations and the European Commission total GEO envisions a future where decisions and measures for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations.
