In a recent video highlighting the importance of the collaboration between NCSR Demokritos and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), IIT researchers are shown working in their research labs whilst employing the results of their research on the projects of the companies they tenure for.
In 2017 NCSR Demokritos launched the SNF Industrial Research Fellowships Program, which was made possible by a generous donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. The Program offers individual fellowships for industrial Doctorate degrees, industrial post-Doc positions and industrial adjunct researchers. Through this program researchers have the opportunity to work with companies and apply their knowledge to real-world problems and needs.
The goal of the Program is to bridge the gap between academic research and the Greek Market by aiming to recruit talented Researchers, Doctoral or Postdoctoral candidates with a strong interest in applied, industrial research.
All the fellows have been selected for either three or four-year tenures after open calls for proposals, followed by peer-reviewed processes by a network of experts from Universities and Research Centers from all over Greece. Each project was reviewed by at least two experts. The evaluation criteria were focused on the excellence of the applicants’ academic profile, the scientific merit of their proposals and the degree of commitment and involvement of the supporting companies in the proposed research. The progress of each fellow has been closely monitored and evaluated every year by Committees of Researchers set at NCSR Demokritos.
The current Fellows of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications for 2021 are:
