The Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) recently participated in the kick-off meeting of the UNITY-6G project, with Dr Harilaos Koumaras representing the FRONT Research Group at the event hosted by CTTC in Barcelona from 27–29 January 2025.
Dr Koumaras took part in discussions alongside leading innovators and experts from across Europe, contributing to the project’s initial roadmap and strategic orientation. The meeting served as a key platform to outline how UNITY-6G will drive the next wave of advancements in wireless connectivity—focusing on ultra-fast, secure and sustainable network solutions that aim to redefine the future digital landscape.
The sessions underscored the project’s ambition to deliver transformative impact across sectors, empowering emerging smart-city applications, enhancing industrial automation, and enriching user experiences through next-generation communication technologies. The shared perspectives highlighted not only the technical challenges ahead but also the vast potential of 6G to unlock new capabilities across the digital ecosystem.
