The Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (ΙIT) dedicated the month of July to Artificial Intelligence (AI) with various planned activities throughout the month.
In that context, on Thursday 2 July more than 90 participants attended the webinar Artificial Intelligence: Institutional Framework & Ethics which was organised in collaboration with SciFY. The video recording is available to view.
On Thursday 9 July the Institute took the initiative and organised for the first time an open-air movie night on campus at NCSR Demokritos. The sports facilities were turned into an open-air cinema which was specifically designed for the evening, during which colleagues enjoyed a classic AI movie of scientific interest Blade Runner – The Director’s cut accompanied by much-needed snacks – beer, popcorn & hot dogs. The evening was a great opportunity for colleagues to come together post Covid19 lockdown.
On Tuesday 14 July we were delighted to welcome Prof. Constantinos Daskalakis of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a talk during the 55th Summer School of NCSR Demokritos. The keynote speech was delivered online, live from Boston, USA, on the theme of Artificial Intelligence & Ethics and more specifically on Learning from Biased Data.
More than 400 participants attended the livestreaming which was followed by a Q&A session. The talk and round table that followed were aimed at both undergraduate and graduate students as well as the general public interested in Informatics and AI. The video is available to watch here.
