Multi Agent Systems are used more and more to solve previously intractable problems, and are the natural choice for implementing a message passing algorithm. In this thesis a max sum decentralized coordination algorithm [1] is implemented using the JADE Multi Agent framework in Java. This model is tested against the model described in [1] and is then applied on several problems to test its performance on areas other than decentralized coordination. We can thus see how powerful a message passing algorithm can be when operating in different environments, implemented in a multi agent framework.
