In the framework of the IS-ENES3 project, NCSR Demokritos with Principal Researcher Dr. Iraklis Klampanos from the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications, organised the IS-ENES3 summer school on “Data Science for Climate Modelling” with the support of the IS-ENES3 organising committee.
The IS-ENES3 summer school was held at the NCSR-D campus from 1 to 7 September 2022 and was attended by 37 students from all over Europe. The aim of the summer school was to increase expertise and skills in theoretical and practical concepts of Data Science, in particular how to accelerate scientific discovery from data. Students had the opportunity to learn more about topics such as climate modelling, machine learning and artificial intelligence and to work in small groups on practical case studies.
Furthermore, participants had the opportunity to attend keynote lectures by leading researchers and University professors from abroad, experts in the field of data analysis and data modelling.
Keynote lecturers were Prof. Tiziana Ferrari, Director of the EGI Federation, Prof. Yannis Ioannidis, Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Prof. Barry O’Sullivan, from the University of Cork
