As researchers at the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications continue to develop the conversational skills of Pepper the robot, its progress was put to the test one more time during an educational program for Gymnasium students.
In the context of their journalism study group, students from Mary Raptou School in Larissa, had the chance to interview the humanoid robot remotely via the internet at its location in NCSR Demokritos campus in Agia Paraskevi, Attica. Students posed numerous questions of various complexity to Pepper who impressed them by providing smart answers.
This result of the new interactive system’s application that IIT researchers have developed and it has improved Pepper’s interactivity, enabling the understanding of complex questions and offering interesting dialogs for everyone.
Associate researcher Mr. Leonidas Tsekouras develops the dialogue systems for Pepper the robot under the supervision of senior researcher, Dr. George Petasis.
Pepper is part of a wider collaboration programme between NCSR Demokritos and the Athens International Airport which in order to further expand the robot’s dialogue system with the integration of Artificial Intelligence.
