The exploitation of research outcomes is now, perhaps more than ever, a necessity and an opportunity. We will discuss how an idea on cutting-edge scientific result exploitation has been built and is being implemented, under a crowd-funding perspective. We will comment on how this effort appears to flourish in a difficult socio-economic environment. We will describe how a new perspective for scientific result exploitation has paved the road to a variety of open and freely accessible products, based on such scientific domains as:
behavior recognition
dialogue systems
natural language processing
pattern recognition
telecommunication networks
We will also discuss how inter-disciplinary cooperation is fueled within this effort, with significant gains for both scientists and end-users.
The name of the medium realizing this potential is SciFY (SCIence For You), a not-for-profit organization based in Greece.
