Dr G. Giannakopoulos at IIT
During their visit, participants had the opportunity to become acquainted with research activities and facilities of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) and the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INN). In particular, they visited the Polymer Plasma Laboratory and the Bio-Microsystems Laboratory, where laboratory infrastructure and advanced experimental techniques were presented by Dr Athina Kastania and Dr Angeliki Tserepi, respectively.
As part of the visit, Dr George Giannakopoulos, Researcher (B’) in Artificial Intelligence at IIT, delivered a two-hour lecture entitled “Artificial Intelligence: from omnipotence to the broken mirror”. The presentation introduced the field of Artificial Intelligence, highlighting its interdisciplinary nature and its interaction with other scientific domains. It was followed by an engaging discussion and exchange of ideas with the students. The talk took place at the Lecture room of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications.
The educational visit concluded with a guided tour of the NCSRD campus, accompanied by researchers and collaborators of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, offering students a comprehensive overview of the Centre’s research activities and opportunities for young scientists.
