The FRONT Research Group successfully conducted the first trial of the 6G-VERSUS Greek Pilot on 6 March 2026, at the premises of NCSR Demokritos.
The Greek Pilot focuses on wildfire detection and search-and-rescue operations, exploring how Beyond-5G (B5G) and emerging 6G technologies, combined with AI-driven intelligence, can enhance situational awareness and support faster and safer emergency response.
The trial was enabled by the Athens B5G/6G Experimentation Platform, the advanced experimentation infrastructure developed at NCSR Demokritos, supporting the deployment and validation of next-generation network technologies in real-world conditions.
The trial involved the integration of AI-enabled applications, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), robotic platforms, and advanced communication networks, enabling near real-time monitoring and improved coordination of response teams. It also validated initial implementations of the 6G application framework (V-App, N-App, AI-App) in a real-world environment.
The activity was carried out in collaboration with project partners I-SENSE/ICCS, OTE Group of Companies , INFOLYSiS, and the Hellenic Rescue Team of Attica, with the participation of representatives from the research and academic community.
The successful completion of the trial provided valuable insights and lessons learned, contributing to the ongoing development of advanced technological solutions for disaster response, environmental protection, and public safety.
