The Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications participated in the Athens Science Festival 2022, which was realised physically after three years, from 21 to 23 October 2022, in Technopolis Athens.
More specifically, IIT was represented by CIL – Computational Intelligence Laboratory, in the interactive exhibitions section with the project titled Exploring historical documents. In this activity, visitors had the opportunity to access and search the information found in historical documents of archives and libraries and to discover how this can be done with the aid of digital document analysis and machine learning.

A few words about ASF 2022: The event had more than 10.000 visitors, while it was inspired by Foresight, the strategic exploration of different possible versions of the future, as well as the opportunities and challenges they could create. The Festival hosted a variety of science-based activities that connect the people to “Tomorrow” and highlighted how the scientific study of the past and present can both shape and shield the Future.
