Dr Denia Kanellopoulou, researcher at the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) of NCSR Demokritos, participated in the European AI Board – AI Innovation Ecosystem sub-group meeting, held on 4 March 2026 in Brussels, as national representative.

The sub-group, established by the European Artificial Intelligence Board, focuses on shaping the European AI innovation ecosystem by addressing challenges and opportunities across the full AI innovation lifecycle, including research, access to funding, skills development and the uptake of AI technologies in both industry and the public sector.

The meeting brought together representatives from Member States and the European Commission to discuss ongoing initiatives and policy developments, including the implementation of the Apply AI Strategy, support for AI adoption in public administrations, and upcoming actions such as the European AI Innovation Month.
During the discussions, Dr Kanellopoulou contributed to topics related to the coordination of European AI initiatives and the monitoring of AI adoption in public administrations. Her input included proposals on aligning existing European platforms and tools, strengthening collaboration mechanisms, and supporting the development of user-oriented indicators and scalable approaches for AI deployment.
