A new funding opportunity for European Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovators has been launched with the first Open Call for the Private Sector under the AI-on-Demand Platform (AIoD), inviting companies and research organisations to bring their market-ready AI solutions into Europe’s expanding AI ecosystem.
The Open Call offers funding of up to €60,000 for AI solution providers, alongside additional support for organisations willing to adopt and deploy these technologies in real-world environments.
Applications opened on 9 April 2026 and will remain open until 8 June 2026.
The initiative aims to accelerate the uptake of trustworthy AI technologies by connecting providers with businesses and organisations ready to implement AI in practice. Selected participants will integrate their solutions into the AI-on-Demand Platform, Europe’s central hub for AI tools, datasets, services, and expertise.
Participants will follow a structured three-phase process running from September 2026 to April 2027. Initially, up to 50 AI providers will receive support to refine their business strategies and present their solutions at a European pitching event. In the second phase, 20 selected providers will proceed with technical integration and user expansion. The final phase will support ten consortia—each consisting of an AI provider and an AI adopter—to deploy solutions in real operational settings, culminating in a European Demo Day. Beyond financial support, participants will benefit from increased visibility, access to a pan-European network of stakeholders, and expert mentoring to help scale their solutions and reach new markets.
To support applicants throughout the process, a series of informational webinars will take place in the weeks leading up to the application deadline. The first webinar, “AIoD and Open Call overview” (30 April, 11:00–12:00 CEST), will introduce the platform’s vision, funding stages, and eligibility criteria, and interested participants can register here. This will be followed by “AIoD Technical and Business concept” (13 May, 11:00–12:00 CEST), offering a deeper dive into technical requirements of the Platform core components and Marketplace integration. A final session, “Live Q&A / Office Hours” (28 May, 11:00–12:00 CEST), will provide an open forum for participants to address remaining questions ahead of the submission deadline.

The AI-on-Demand Platform is developed through two major European projects, DeployAI and AI4Europe, funded under the Digital Europe and Horizon Europe programmes, respectively. Together, these projects contribute to building a comprehensive European infrastructure for AI innovation and collaboration.
The Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications of NCSR Demokritos participates as a partner in the consortia of both DeployAI and AI4Europe, contributing to the development of the AI-on-Demand Platform.
