The talk will briefly introduce the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Agricultural Information Institute (AII) that is located at the Bejing campus of CAAS. CAAS is the nation’s largest stakeholder and producer of agricultural research. AAI is one of the institutes of CAAS (http://www.caas.cn/en/administration/research_institutes/) that has been established in 1957. The mission of the institute is to undertake scientific innovation in the field of agricultural information and to provide agricultural sci-tech information services. It covers three major scientific research fields: ICT application in agriculture, agricultural information management and agricultural information analysis. AII is also the national agricultural documentation center, hosting the National Agricultural Library of China. The institute has 20 divisions and more than 320 staff members. The National Agricultural Library holds a collection of more than 2 million copies of books and journals.
