Institute researchers Dr Xenia Ziouvelou, Dr George Giannakopoulos, and Mr Vasilis Giannakopoulos were mentioned in the Greek newspaper “TO BHMA” for their contribution to the book Smart Parliaments: Data-Driven Democracy, with the chapter Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Parliamentary Context.
In the chapter Artificial Intelligence in the Parliamentary Context, the researchers outline a number of potential applications of AI in the parliamentary technology domain from an AI democratization perspective. They provide an overview of supported by AI parliamentary functions, designating challenges and potential opportunities of AI applications in parliamentary technology. Furthermore, they suggest steps for AI democratization in parliaments, expecting that the presented overview will be a basis for further study of what can be achieved by using AI in and across European parliaments.
A few words about the book Smart Parliaments: Data-Driven Democracy
A big part of the book refers to the need for technological protection of the European Parliaments towards the “social disorders” of our time (such as interceptions etc.) as well as the possibility of “textual information extraction,” which could support their work.
