The Wireless Communications Laboratory (WiCom Lab), IIT, NCSR Demokritos successfully organised this year’s European School of Antennas 2019 (ESoA2019).
The five day-long Postgraduate School took place from 10 to 14 June 2019 at the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of Loughborough, UK and was organised in collaboration with the Wireless Communications Research Group (WiCR) of the University of Loughborough.
The School, which included courses and lectures on “Advanced Materials for Antennas and Microwave Devices”, is a European geographically-distributed postgraduate school, supported by the European Association of Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP), aiming to enhance European training and research in antennas and related applications.
In total 26 postgraduate students attended the school, including 16 coming from British universities and companies, and ten from Universities, research centers or companies from other countries (France, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Spain, Australia and Malaysia). The students had the opportunity to attend a series of lectures held by internationally recognized professors and researchers in the field of antennas, materials and meta-materials.
They also participated in workshops and demonstration tours at WiCR’s laboratories. Prof. J. Vardaxoglou was responsible for the organisation of the event locally on behalf of the University of Loughborough. On behalf of NCSR “Demokritos”, Dr. Antonis Alexandridis (IIT), participated as co-organiser and speaker and Dr. M. Pissas (INN), as a guest speaker.
