MIMO systems (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) refer to the use of multiple receiving and transmitting antennas, introducing a new dimension: space, which can significantly improve system performance, if properly exploited. A comparative study of MIMO systems performance is conducted and the results are presented. On the receiver side: a multiple bodyworn antenna system vs. a multiple antenna mobile terminal are considered. In these systems, the interaction between the electromagnetic fields emitted by the antennas and the biological tissues is critical because of the close proximity of the user’s body. Beyond health risks point of view, user’s body impact on the antenna radiation characteristics which is significant from the antenna design point of view.
