Two European H2020 projects of the Software and Knowledge Engineering Laboratory (SKEL Lab) received aclaim during October 2017 at international competitions.
The Your Data Stories Team (https://yourdatastories.eu/) won the Best Pitching Award for the Sustainability and Exploitation Plan amongst H2020 eGovernment projects (https://twitter.com/iit_demokritos/status/ 922831689109377024).
The awarding took place on Tuesday 24 October in Brussels, Belgium in the framework of the Digital Transformation of Public Administrations Event – Sustainability and Exploitation of Horizon 2020 eGovernment Projects Results.
Simultaneously, the Big Data Europe project team (https://www.big-data-europe.eu/) won the Best Demo People’s Choice Award in the frame of the 16th International Semantic Web Conference -ISWC 2017 (https: // iswc2017. semanticweb .org /) held on Wednesday 25 October in Vienna, Austria (https://twitter.com/iit_demokritos/status/923545428150321157).
It should be noted that the demo paper “Integrating Big Data Processing and Semantic Web Technologies to Support Decision Making in Atmospheric Dispersion of Hazardous Substances” written by Athanasios Davvetas, Iraklis A. Klampanos, Spyros Andronopoulos, Giannis Mouchakis, Stasinos Konstantopoulos, Andreas Ikonomopoulos and Vangelis Karkaletsis is the result of team collaboration between SKEL Lab and the Environmental Research Laboratory, at the Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences & Technology, Energy & Safety of NCSR “Demokritos “.
Dr. Vagelis Karkaletsis, Director of SKEL Lab as well as the Director of the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications Dr. Stelios Thomopoulos warmly congratulated both teams and wished them to achieve similar future successes.
