Dr. Dimitris Kouremenos works at NCSR “Demokritos” in the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, contributing to research activities on accessibility for Deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) individuals within the Multimedia Analysis Group (MagCIL) of the Computational Intelligence Lab. He holds a PhD in machine translation from text to sign language and has a strong background in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), accessible AI systems, and KNX-based smart environments.
He develops inclusive technologies specifically for DHH users, with a focus on speech recognition, KNX automation systems, and the design of AI pipelines for sign language recognition, translation, and processing. He has also played a key role in numerous national and European research projects, advancing the fields of low-resource language processing, real-time captioning, and multimodal accessibility.
