Katerina Skroumpelou was born and lives in Athens. She is an Architectural Engineer and she acquired her diploma from the School of Architectural Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens in 2012. In September of 2014 she acquired with a Distinction the title of Master of Research on Advanced Spatial Analysis and Visualisation from the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis of University College London. During her postgraduate studies she participated in the Cities Unlocked project, where she helped in the recording and understanding of the way the blind and visually impaired individuals move in an urban environment. Starting October 2014, she is a PhD candidate in the Division of Communication, Electronic and Information Engineering of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. During all the years of her studies she has been involved with programming, and recently she has started working on Android application development. Her research interests revolve around Internet technologies and the ways they form cities and their citizens. Her PhD is on Internet of Things and it will focus on Smart City technologies.
