Maria Karafylli was born in Athens. She is an Architect Engineer and she received her diploma with grade 8.92/10 from the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens, in 2012. She is registered architect in the Technical Chamber of Greece and works as freelance architect. Her diploma thesis has won one of the five equal Prizes in the international competition of Greek Architects and was nominated for prize by the Technical Chamber of Greece. She participated in numerous workshops, competitions and congresses concerning environmental and urban design. She has been collaborated with several architectural and construction practices and with companies specialized in exhibition spaces. She has extended knowledge of multiple architectural designing software. Her academic interests lie in the area of digital art, spatial analysis, urban planning and bioclimatic design. She is currently working as research associate at the Integrated Systems Laboratory of Informatics and Telecommunications in NCSR Demokritos.
