The Rice University and NCSR “DEMOKRITOS” (NCSR) enter into an agreement of cooperation to establish a program of exchange and collaboration in areas of interest and benefit to both institutions. The purposes of the cooperation between Rice University and NCSR are as follows:
– to promote interest in the teaching and research activities of the respective institutions in areas of common interest, such as Computer Science, and
– to enable qualified students identified by NCSR to pursue an advanced degree at Rice University through the respective Department at Rice University.
Rice University and NCSR agree to promote academic cooperation between both institutions, in the area of mutual interest, by means of:
exchange of teaching staff and researchers;
development of research projects;
organization of scientific and cultural events;
exchange of information and academic publications;
exchange of students;
exchange of technical and administrative staff;
shared material of courses and subjects.
In the context of this cooperation agreement, a PhD fellowship program was formed leading to the award of a PhD degree in the name of the Rice University, in the area of Computer Science. This is a joint program between the Department of Computer Science at Rice University (http://compsci.rice.edu/) and the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications at NCSR.
