The CY CISE consortium – coordinated by the Integrated Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications of NCSR “Demokritos” – organized a workshop on Tuesday the 18th of December 2018. The event was hosted by the KIOS reseach center at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia.
Coming towards the ending stage of the CY CISE project, the aim of this workshop was to present its final results and outcomes, and discover exploitation opportunities of CY CISE. Following the agenda of the workshop the day started with the presentations of the DG MARE representative Ms Elisabetta Pietrobon and the EU CISE project representative Ms Patrizia Sacco. Later on, the consortium members presented the results of the project describing the progress and the strategy that was implemented throughout these past two years.
Some really interesting ideas were discussed about the future of CISE (Common Information Sharing Environment) in general and the possible leverage of CY CISE and the participation of Cypriot and Greek maritime communities in CISE evolvements. The audience, mainly representing maritime authorities, was highly interested and enthusiastic after a demonstration of the platform that was developed during this project. The authorities found very useful this new tool for managing their everyday tasks related to information sharing on maritime surveillance awareness which is in compliance to European CISE vision.
