On 25 November 2025, Dr Dora Katsamori, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, and Dafni Anesti, delivered a media literacy workshop at the 1st Evening High School of Perama, invited by Knowl Social Enterprise for Lifelong Learning.
The session was part of Knowl’s wider educational programme of lectures and workshops designed to empower learners in public schools across the Municipality of Perama. Our Institute’s participation reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening media literacy and offered a valuable opportunity to present our work within the TITAN Project and the d-ai-logue project.
Through an interactive presentation, students were introduced to key concepts around new technologies and media. In group discussions and hands-on activities, they explored disinformation tactics and the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence. Using visual material and videos, they examined examples of fake news and AI-generated images, identifying potential risks and discussing ways to critically evaluate media content.
The workshop brought together 35 students, most of whom are working adults attending evening school, who actively contributed their experiences and perspectives throughout the 2-hour session.
In the second half, Dora and Dafni presented a live demo of the d-ai-logue assistant / TITAN coach, an AI-based tool developed by IIT. This platform supports learners in detecting disinformation tactics in texts (such as journalistic articles and online posts) and in developing a more critical approach to information. The demonstration included a real-time conversation with the chatbot, using a current online article as an example.
At the end of the workshop, both students and teachers shared constructive feedback and expressed strong interest in integrating the tool into future classroom activities.
