From 10 to 14 July 2023, the Summer School of the National Centre for Scientific Research (NCSR) “Demokritos” took place for the 58th consecutive year.
The students of science and technology orientation had the opportunity to:
- attend lectures by researchers from all the Institutes of the NCSRD and by distinguished scientists from foreign universities
- visit the research laboratories of the Centre
- attend highly interesting scientific discussions in the form of a “Round Table”
- meet young students from the Democritus National Research Centre, who will present their research work in daily poster sessions
- participate in a speed mentoring session with female researchers from the NCSRD
- attend soft skills seminars
- be informed about the possibility of pursuing a postgraduate degree with the help of scholarships offered by various institutions in the country
Τhe Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications attended, as every year, on Tuesday 11 July, with talks by researchers from the Institute’s labs.
The talks that were presented:
- “Education and Postgraduate Research at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of the NCSRD” – Dr. Dimitrios Kyriazanos, Researcher of CIL – Head of Education
- “Can computers understand what’s happening?” – Dr. Alexandros Artikis, Post-Doctoral Researcher , Complex Event Recognition , The AI Lab
- “Applications of AI in software testing: a case study of ESA (European Space Agency)” – Dr. Dimitrios Vogiatzis, Post-Doctoral Researcher , Biomedical and Health Informatics Team , The AI Lab
- “To chat or not to chat: An ethical reflection” – Alexandros Nousias, Collaborating Researcher , The AI Lab
- “Beyond 5G networks: the 6G Networks and the 6G Experimental Platform of NCSRD”, Dr. Harilaos Koumaras, Researcher, MNL – Head of FRONT.
- “Emerging Technologies and the School of the Future”, Dr. Athanasios Drigas, Head of NML & Mind
- “Resource Management in Complex Wireless Networks”, Dr. Nikolaos Dimitriou, Researcher, NEL
- “Wearable Fabric Candles: Manufacturing techniques, materials and components”, Dr. Aris Tsolis, Post-Doctoral Researcher , WiCom Lab
