In the context of invited talks organised by SKEL | The AI Lab and the BioHIT | Biomedical and Health Informatics Team the Institute invited Dr Rena Logothetis, Senior Research Fellow at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute (A²I²), to deliver a talk titled Translational Research at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute on Thursday 5 October 2023, at 10.00 CEST.
The talk took place physically at the Aegeo Meeting Room of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications. Remote participants joined the talk through zoom.

Dr Rena Logothetis and her team focus on leveraging AI techniques to translate current industry operations into new standards improving efficiency. Her interests are in various types of Support Systems, specifically focusing on selecting appropriate AI techniques to translate raw data into meaningful information for the user.
Dr Rena Logothetis has delivered multiple projects in the health sector including: Pandemic intervention Monitoring System (PiMS), a Triaging System to remotely monitor COVID positive patients; Paramedique, a unified Pre-Hospital Notification and Triaging system for trauma cases connecting paramedics transferring a patient to doctors and surgeons at the hospital preparing the emergency bays to receive the patient. She designed and deployed an Anomaly Detection System for a Smart Home for the elderly monitoring routines & sending alerts to informal carers notifying them of abnormal behaviour of the elderly.
Despite her experience in health, her knowledge is applicable across various domains and is supervising PhD students in the fields of Software Engineering, Mining and Cybersecurity.
