Continuing its tradition to support entrepreneurship and extroversion, NCSR Demokritos participated in the 84th Thessaloniki International Fair from 7 – 15 of September 2019, with three separate exhibition stands under the auspices of the Ministry of Development & Investment/ General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT).
GSRT’s large pavilion included these exhibits by NCSR Demokritos:
Pepper the Robot: an anthropomorphic robot, which interacted with members of the public. Pepper, is part of a research collaboration between the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications and the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” and was specially scheduled for the exhibition to vocally welcome visitors to GSRT’s booth and interact by answering many questions that the public asked.
Hydrogen Compressor: a presentation of the innovative Hydrogen Compressor took place during the exhibition. The compressor, developed by a team of researchers from the Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences & Technology, Energy & Safety (IPRETEA), participated with the spin-off company of NCSR Demokritos CYRUS that presented an interactive tank system for measuring water level through NBIoT technology sensor, as part of the Industrial Scholarship Program, developed at INN (https://www.fuelics.com/).
KM3NeT experiment: the ISMS presented the KM3NeT experiment and its detectors under construction. The primary goal of the KM3NeT was to observe ultra-high-energy neutrons coming from distant space and time, violent astrophysical phenomena, and to answer basic physics questions, such as determining the mass hierarchy of different types of neutrons.
Lefkippos Technology Park: In the booth of the Ministry of Digital Policy/Digital Innovation, NCSR Demokritos’s Technology Park Lefkippos participated with representative companies including Linked Business, Up2metric, AMEN, Helbio, SciFy, Fin, Nanometrisis and Eventora.
