On Friday 19 May 2023, the popAI project successfully co-organised, along with NOTIONES and ALLIES projects, the webinar DataAnalytics and AI bias in LEAs decision-making. NCSR D as the project Coordinator is responsible for project management, governance and quality control. As an expert in AI and ICT Security issues, NCSR D also contributes as a technology consultant in several other tasks and leads communication, AI ecosystem building in the security domain and provides the relevant popAI ecosystem platform.
Dr Dimitris Kyriazanos of NCSR Demokritos, coordinator of the popAI project, welcomed participants and presented popAI’s ecosystem and Ethics Toolbox while Dr Pinelopi Troullinou of partner Trilateral Research talked about Policy Labs on AI in the security sector.
The webinar included thorough presentations, best practices, as well as the experiences of European law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on the applications of AI and algorithmic tools for policing.
Moreover, the multifaceted webinar focused on existing challenges and gaps that emerge in policing through AI and discussed the ways that law enforcement agencies can minimize AI bias.
