On 18 December 2025, the online workshop Co-Creating Trustworthy AI: Public Consultation Workshop on prEN 18286 was held within the framework of PHAROS: The Greek AI Factory. The event took place via Zoom and brought together stakeholders to contribute to the public consultation on the draft European standard prEN 18286.
The workshop was led by Alexandros Nousias, IIT Research Associate in AI Law, Governance and Ethics, National Representative to the EU AI Board / Standards Subgroup and to CEN/CENELEC JTC 21 on AI Standardisation, and IEEE AI Ethics Lead Assessor. His presentation outlined the scope and objectives of prEN 18286 and its role in supporting compliance with the EU AI Act.
The session focused on prEN 18286, a new Quality Management System (QMS) standard designed to operationalise Article 17 of the EU AI Act and support organisations developing or deploying high-risk AI systems. As the standard is currently under public consultation, the workshop provided an important opportunity for participants to share insights and perspectives that will help shape Greece’s contribution to this key European regulatory instrument.
The standard is particularly relevant for organisations active in the sustainability, energy, environment, and climate sectors, where many AI applications are classified as high-risk and require robust QMS frameworks to ensure safety, resilience, transparency, and alignment with ESG principles.
