Moving forward with the implementation of the Gender Equality Plan (GEP), a policy of NCSR Demokritos approved in May 2022, already adopted by the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications, the first pilot event, a meeting between women researchers from all NCSR Demokritos’ Institutes, took place physically on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the “Themis Paradelis” Seminar Room of the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (INPP). The aim of this gathering was the discussion of issues in regard to gender equality and inclusivity and whether the women researchers have ever experienced difficulties and inconveniences in their work environment caused by their gender.
Mrs. Angeliki Tserepi, Gender Equality Officer and Mrs. Despoina Oikonomidou, IIT’s representative in the Gender Equality Committee, had a brief presentation of the situation in Europe and in NCSR Demokritos specifically, on gender equality matters, and of the main actions of GEP, while posed questions that initiated the discussion between the participants.
This was one of the many meetings between the employees of NCSR Demokritos that are planned to be realised, a start which will help the Gender Equality Committee to point out, understand and confront gender issues and possible discriminations.
