The Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) at NCSR “Demokritos” is pleased to announce that Dr. Xenia Ziouvelou and Dr. Dora Katsamori, researchers of the AI Politeia Lab, actively participated in the feasibility study exploring the development of a European Reference Framework for the Evaluation of Educational Technologies, which was initiated by the Council of Europe.
The study aims to establish a structured and comprehensive framework for evaluating the effectiveness, impact, and ethical considerations of educational technologies, including AI-driven solutions. By ensuring alignment with fundamental European values—human rights, democracy, and the rule of law—the initiative seeks to provide guidance to policymakers, educators, and technology developers on best practices for adopting and integrating digital tools in education.
The findings of the feasibility study were presented during a dedicated webinar was held on 18 February 2025, where experts from various disciplines engaged in discussions on the practical implementation of the framework across diverse educational settings. The study represents an important step toward establishing common European standards for evaluating educational technologies, ensuring their positive contribution to teaching, learning, and lifelong education.
