The focus on those two themes has endured through time, as technological developments lead to the generation of ever more data and content, the volume and diversity of which is overwhelming for their intended audience. Therefore, intelligent computational methods are needed to analyse and access this information, rendering it useful for several applications, spanning from news monitoring to healthcare, culture, energy, environment, telecommunications and security.
